ABOUT CALGARY PHILHARMONIC ORCHESTRA

The Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra is a resident orchestra at the Jack Singer Concert Hall. The ensemble Alberta Philharmonic was put together by esteemed conductor Hnery Plukker in 1955 and it merged with Alberta Symphony that same year. CPO has grown to be one of the most revered orchestras in Canada and had made a number of notable recordings, including Piano Concerti of Bartok, Prokofiev and Malcolm Forsyth, Cello Concerti of Elgar & Saint-Saëns, Mahler – Symphony No. 1, and tons more. Today, the symphony is led by Rune Bergmann who has served as music director since 2017.
